Specializing in Handwriting Examinations

Examine

Through the direct comparison of known samples with questioned signatures, handwriting, hand printing and numbers individuals are identified or eliminated as the writer.  Signatures are also examined to detect simulations (freehand drawings) and tracings, as well as those generated by computer or rubberstamp to imitate genuine signatures.

Associate

In the absence of known standards of a subject, questioned writings are intercompared to determine whether or not they were written by one individual. This intercomparison technique is also used to determine whether or not a sample of items such as photocopies or commercially printed documents share a common source.

Screen

On site assistance in the field to narrow the group of potential writers, most useful in cases involving anonymous threats or harassment in schools or  workplaces.

Detect and Develop

Alterations to printed forms or handwritten entries are detected and documented.  Entries obscured by correction fluid are developed and transcribed.  Indented writing - the impressions created on sheets below that being written on by the pressure and movement of the writing instrument  - is detected and developed using an electrostatic detection device.

Teach

Seminars provide information on the proper collection and preservation of questioned documents and known writing standards. Lectures pertaining to the history and scope of the document examination field are also provided.

Testify

Preparation of a report of findings, courtroom exhibits and expert testimony in criminal and civil cases, hearings and arbitration proceedings.
