Education

Master of Science in Forensic Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Bachelor degrees in both Chemistry and Biology from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa.

Training

Trained in the examination of questioned documents through apprenticeship-style training programs. This training was imparted and supervised by experienced forensic document examiners employed by the Washington State Patrol and the Oregon State Police. Ms. Carlson has also attended the United States Secret Service’s Questioned Document Course, among other specialized workshops and classes.

Experience

Ms. Carlson has examined a wide range of questioned documents while employed as a government examiner. These documents include stolen and counterfeit checks, illicit and legitimate business documents of all types, anonymous and threatening notes, counterfeit identification cards, forged signatures and alterations to handwritten entries. She also has experience writing technical reports and testifying to these conclusions in courts of law.

Membership

Active in the questioned document community as a member of the Southwestern Association of Forensic Document Examiners.
